Anyone had any experience in re-registering a kit that has been driven for some time on the donor registration? There is a car for sale I'm interested in that appears to be incorrectly registered. Does anyone know, does this mean an automatic IVA test and Q plate (due to not having details of the donor/photos when originally built). The seller isn't answering my query on this so I smell a rat...

Cheers all

You will need to iva it and if it's a old kit then will almost defentily fail without series modifications what kit is it.

Had a, potential, customer who fell into this trap buying a car not correctly registered.

DVLA, in this instance, were very helpful and supportive and agreed the car could be correctly registered after IVA.

As it happened the car was so poorly built the cost of corrective measures made the whole thing non cost effective so the car was scrapped.

If the car you buy is registered against the original donor then this should answer the identity issues so an age related plate is still a possibility.

Beware.
