If you have been following these people they have been doing these for years. I think there was some stuff about them on Horizon back in the 80s.

ok, the quadcopter machines currently need external vision systems for navigation, but i can imagine that changing in the not too distant future!

Very clever. I see what you mean by external tracking. Going by the 'balls' on the craft and the cameras everywhere I should say they use infrared.

If you haven't watch the 'real swarm of quadrotors' video that is very impressive and the capabilities and future potential of these things very, very scary!
