Turning my 993 into a track car and I have now removed the sunroof.

Does anyone have any advice on how I should cover the hole up, is it just a case of welding the sunroof panel back in place?

If so, can anyone recommend anywhere in the south east?

Many thanks

Carbon roof panel?

If not then you can weld the roof back in as you suggest but it's a tricky job to get right, lots end up with the weld showing after a few months when the filler sinks.

The right way is by buying a new roof from Porsche.

www.early911.co.uk near Tunbridge Wells are good value for this sort of stuff.

I'll hopefully getting my 3.2 done at sportwagen in Southend hopefully later it's year, they weld in a panel shaped on a wheel.

Fenn Lane produce a panel to replace the sunroof, correct thickness, exact curvature etc

Seen a few of them on Pelican and they look a very good option

If you're building a track-focused car then the best thing to do is remove the roof, fit a cage whilst it's off as it's MUCH easier then fit a replacement non-sunroof roof. It might not be the cheapest option mind.

Thanks a lot for all of your replies.

Goose, I suppose I would need to speak to Porsche regarding a new 'non sunroof' roof?

+1 - they're based near Coventry & should be able to fit/paint too for you.
