Stones everywhere!

The roads in my local area of West Yorkshire have been surprisingly treated to a resurface. As the norm these days, the stone chips have been left to be scattered by traffic using the road.
Today I was on a dual carriageway that's just had this treatment, stones everywhere.

king aholes racing past at stupid speeds spraying my car with stones and so kindly putting a large chip on my windscreen are either just thick or just the kind of imbecile that doesn't give a toss about anyone else or their property.
The signs everywhere saying loose chippings 20mph, should have been a slight indication that normal speeds can't be done in this situation. Bloody idiots.
Speaking of bloody idiots, why doesn't the highways agency or whoevers in charge, insist that the roads aren't left in a river of stone chippings and clear the majority of the bloody stuff up? As I biker I can especially appreciate how dodgy leaving the roads like this can be especially in these days of health and safety.
Thankfully I only have an old Passat barge, but even then I don't want the front end and windscreen fked for the sake of it. I dread to think how I'd feel if I had a car of any significant value!

They have done this on a 30/40 road near me recently, most people stick to a suitable speed but is only takes one tw@t or a bus/truck driving too quickly to ruin it!
PITA, as said before, there must be another way to resurface roads. Or are we witnessing the great Highways Agency/Department of Transport - car insurance/body repair cover up?

I dont actually understand the method behind it. Shirley if you take the markings off and spread loose gravel on the road it will only be a certain amount of time before all those loose stones are swept to the side?
Does the weight of traffic force the stones into the little nook and crannies does it?

I hate gravel, even at 20mph my bike just wants to fall over.
The stones must cost money, why don't the sweep them up? Makes no sense to me to let road building materials get rolled down the drains and flicked in to hedges instead of reusing them. Stupid and dangerous.
It seems to be a peculiarly British problem to me. Other countries use different surfaces. I remember a visit to Germany 25 - 30 years ago and they were using a much lighter, almost powdery sort of stone on normal roads, which caused no damage to anyone. Also what's wrong with good old tarmac once it's properly hardened?

Thats what we use down here.... Lovely bit of tarmac put down just last week... And they're doing another bit at the moment

Loads of roads out in my neck of the woods have been done like this recently. At first I thought it was an underlay or something, and they were going to tarmac the top, but nope, that's the permanent surface. It's noisier than what was there previously!
Its the same around my local area as well using this appalling method of resurfacing. What's worse is they haven't really filled in the previous pot holes properly and the 'new surface' is beginning to settle into those pot holes again. So it wont take long once winters here for these pot holes to appear once again.There is also the fact as well that what they've also done is resurface around the manhole and other such access points in the road leaving them sunk into the surface rather than level with it. These are equally as bad as pot holes in the road, if not worse in my opinion.
