Where to sell car worth less than 500 quid?

I'm soon planning to get rid of a car which is worth less than 500 quid, though it is taxed and MOTed. From a recent thread it seems that using Autotrader is pointless (I suspect people looking for really cheap cars don't look there?). I know that wherever I advertise I'm likely to get hassle from "100 quid cash, innit" type chancers.
So, advice please; where would you sell the car? Gumtree? Ebay? Local rag?

Most areas have a local buy/sell group. I sold my old Land Rover through our local group and a friend sold his cheap Saxo through it. It seems to be populated by bargain hunter types who love cheap cars for sale locally.
Alternatively cards on notice boards/sign in the window. I definitely wouldn't bother with Autotrader.

I've come to the conclusion it's easier (and probably more profitable) to break them.
I've tried to shift my 1.8 mk1 Mx5 for a couple of weeks and because I was only asking £500 for a taxed MOTd car have had utter mongs come round.
Yes it needs work that's why it's £500 but it's a 1.8 uk MX5 with a nearly new roof, working everything relatively tidy albeit needing a tiny hole in the boot welding up. But yes it needs a good polish and a new rear caliper (and probably some other stuff) doing.
I'm starting to break it next week and will probably pull more than £500 out of it.

Get over to the mev forums plenty of people are after mx5s for the exocet kit car.
