I am finally hanging up the keys of my 1.4 Mini One, and collecting the keys for an 07 Cooper S (1.6 turbo charged version). As you can see from the pictures below, it has the full JCW body kit and is in Pepper White with black mirror caps and black roof. Bought it at the Exclusive VIP event at Mini.

I am picking the car up tomorrow, and I will upload more pictures, as I will be adding custom Black Mini wheels to the car.

I also have around £2,000 which I want to spend on engine modifications to the car, thinking of getting a Milltek DownPipe and Sports Cat(or De-cat), Looking to get it remapped.

Any ideas or suggestions on power upgrades, I will be doing track days in this car and slowly but surely stripping it and caging it. Will keep updating as and when i do this.

Thanks for reading.

Thanks mate, I'm going to be looking to wrap the interior and exterior in a Carbon Fibre vinyl wrap, as real carbon fibre is far to expensive, plus, Im wrapping plastic, not exactly much weight difference in real stuff and plastic covered parts. Bonnet Scoop, mirror caps, spoiler, rear defuser ect, I want to try and make it look like something that hasn't been seen before, haven't decided how I'm going to do it yet. I will update as and when I do.

Why cage, stripped and buckets?

Just that if its going to be your daily with a few track days surely making it "daily" friendly is important. Buckets yes but cage will just make it harder to get into plus you will need to butcher the dash and it will make it a 2 seater. And it will just add the weight that you saved by stripping it (which will just make it noisey). And its just dangerous driving a caged car without a crash helmet. Bare head + cage = BIG ouch!

Or is it also the track day look you want?

£2,000 worth of mods including brakes and suspension will make it hugely more capable on track plus a bit of tuition if you have any change. Did you see the 5th Gear recently? The biggest improvement in lap times was from tuition rather than mods.

Sorry rant over smile

Nice looking car BTW.

Car now purchased and is currently sitting in my work car park looking spectacular. I took a few more pictures, should be getting my Carbon Fibre Vinyl tomorrow so will start doing bits and bobs to it whether tomorrow/wednesday.

Looks a lot better with Black Wheels on it, I want to wrap the rear diffuser in Carbon Fibre, but dont know whether or not it will melt due to high temperatures?? May have to spend a couple hundred quid and buy a real one. I love the rear tints on the windows, really sets the car off. Rear wiper delete possibly?

Wrapping that Bonnet scoop in Carbon Fibre wink

Interior from Driver's Seat, The Piano black (shiny black) parts of the interior will be wrapped in CF leaving the (off)white leather as it is, the plastic around the centre console, and spokes on the steering wheel will be CF along with the rings around the the vents, speedo, speakers, tach and centre steering wheel.

Rear badge, will remain, not debadging that wink

Had this sticker (one on each side) from Nurburgring on both A-Panels on my Mini One (which I bought when I was there in May)and the guys in the body shop managed to get them off and stuck to this car with out damaging the car or stickers. Very Happy. Debating on whether or not to wrap the whole A panel in CF, not sure yet... :S

Drivers door open, JCW Entry sills, White leather trim on seats and door cards. Thinking about installing Gauge pods see below;

But because its a twinscroll turbocharged engine(Excuse my ignorance) would i need two turbo gauges? or just one?

Inside the car from drivers POV, White leather gators on handbrake, gear shaft, JCW handbrake (which is carbon fibre effect) aswell as a fancier looking gear stick knob so it looks a bit racier. Also tinting all interior lighting blue, driver/passenger foot-well, main interior light.. should go nicely with the blue mood lighting.

As far as the engine goes... I wanna put a dump valve on it, purely so I can annoy my friends as well as a sports cat, power wise it pulls like a train, no wheel spin due to the traction control kicking in whenever I'm over zealous with my throttle. Haven't pressed the SPORT button yet, I raced my friends 350z without it Sunday and I seemed to be creeping ahead of him, so with that on I should be faster. smile Will be doing Snetterton in December, should have all my plans sorted by then. Will keep updating as and when I manage to do stuff.

Next step - New Brake Pads []

That's quite expensive, my friend who is 20 is paying £1600 for his 07 cooper s and I got a quote of £1100 for a GP edition saying I was 21.

Lovely looking mini. Don't know if i agree with all your carbon fibre wrapping but look forward to the results.

WHy would you need 2 boost gauges for a twinscroll turbo? It's stil only 1 turbo?

Looks good.

A remap witha new downpipe should see a decent power figure. You might as well throw in an ITG panel filter in the airbox for good measure. Without going down the bigger turbo route, only things to really consider would be an uprated intercooler and the remainder of the exhuast. I would expect that lot to give you around the 235 - 245 BHP mark depending which mapper you use

Putting the sport cat / decat will have already made one of the biggest difference to the exhaust. If you want a nice sound from it without the expense of a full system, just look at the scrap yards for any JCW mini's and get the back box off one of them. They sound totally different on the S compared the JCW. wink Mini dealers can sell you one with the required clamp if you want new.

With regards to dump valves, each to their own! Not my cup of tea but its you car so enjoy it. Not sure how it would pull away from a 350z mind if both driven flat out. If anything, the zed should pull away from it on a straight.

Sport button will do very little on an 07 car. Firms up the steering, makes the throttle response quicker but does not give you any more power at full throttle. On the new Cooper S, the sport button also makes the exhaust pop a bit smile

Thanks mate, I needed to know what is essential to change, exhaust and air filter definitely first to change along with down pipes and remap. Thanks for feedback smile

None of them are essential mate smile Do you find the car not quick enough for you?

I bought the Mrs one earlier this year, very similar but in Red with the JCW Kit, 18's, Carbon bits, etc but I have found it plenty quick enough to have fun in. Only change has been the panel filter ( a cheap mod ) and the FJCW back box which sounds great. Sounds even better when it catches you off gaurd and lets out an almighty 'crack' on lift off or gear change.

Lovely

Can I ask how you find the refinement? Looking at a cooper s clubman, so the ride on that might be a bit softer. But what I am most interested in is road noise, wind noise, engine noise at Mway speeds?

If you have a phone with a db meter app that would be great if you could get a number! Though it probably won't be comparable.

Also is it right in saying that all the coopers with the steering controls have cruise control? (a must now!).
