I currently own a '72 beetle which i love more than anything in the world, but due to very annoying circumstances i am having to sell it and therefore replace it with something more modern.

I want something that is easily modifiable and relatively cheap but i dont really know what to get... anyone got any suggestions, i was thinking along the lines of an audi a3 or mk4 golf..?

Yeah I have been looking at quite a few E30 325i's, and you can do some pretty cool things with them, so many i have seen are so cheap though i'm just a bit wary about problems. Is there anything in particular to look out for??
