Anyone else had the mail? I received one from Mercedes giving me £100 if I let a mystery shopper come with me while my car was serviced. You pick them up from around the corner of the garage and they go in with a secret camera. You have to wait for the car to be serviced and afterwards you answer some questions and get £100 back.

The PDF in the email said 'Dear Ford user' so is this the new way of selling main dealer servicing?
It reminds me of the time share sales methods of years ago.

Who in their right mind wants to sit and wait for the car? It could be two hours and in the meantime anything you say is captured on film. I bet the service desk people put on a great little show for the tight sod looking to save a £100 when it probably gets added onto the bill.

This has turned out to be a pathetic attempt at a rant and I feel ashamed of hitting the submit button.

Why is Mercedes writing to a Ford driver?

Surely the dealer is going to cotton on if two blokes turn up and sit around waiting for their car to be serviced confused

I am sure they will given that their company has organised the thing to increase sales. The only muppet is the one thinking he is on a 'mission' with his secret friend.

the closest I have got to them and servicing is buying spares and having them put my car on a diagnostic machine.
There is also a story about that. My indie said the boot cover would not automatically raise since the motor had gone and to get it checked out by a main dealer. The main dealer checked on the software and said it needed replacing, £100 for the check and £600 for a new self lifting boot cover. I thought manual works for that type of money. Car goes back a year later to indie for some work and when it comes back the liner lifts on its own again, was it in a coma? Had it gone back to 1973 for a while, was I going mad?

So many questions..
