Discussion
Try as I might to forget the last trip, I can't keep it out my mind. I've thought about other events and Euro hoons, but they're not Monaco. Porsche Enthusiasts are doing quite a few Euro trips ( Laon, Le'mans, Porsche factory/museum tours ). Is there anyone who is thinking of doing Monaco next year? I've been trying to convince my wife that it would be a good thing, and she should come.

After watching the GP at Monza the other week I fancied trip down to see that. Would have the advantage of being later in the year so more of the alpine passes would be open. I definitely want to spend more time doing those next time as for me was the best driving of the Gumbaw 2012 trip.
Not sure when though...

Dependant on dates, I might be up for a trip
The race itself next year is on Sunday the 26th of May. There is a choice of going down on the Thursday and doing the race and take the long way home, or the same as this year and coming home after the race. Of course, not everyone done the same thing, some stayed, some flew down and some came straight home.I'd love to do another trip to Monaco. I'd also be happy building a trip around another GP/ racing event. We learned a lot on this years trip which would make planning a bit easier. eg. avoid city centres for en route accommodation!. I'd also want to spend more time in the Alps. Doing the race first then a tour of northern Italy (Ferrari/Lamborghini/Pagani etc) and the mountain passes en route home is an attractive idea.(M&K as our tour guides!) Could try to fit in visits to Monza, Hockenheim, Nurburgring and Spa on the way back(?)
Just a suggestion to get the discussion going.

This is focussed on - Monaco, Stelvio Pass (if open), spending time in the Italian and Austrian alps (more passes
!), spending time on the German autobahn
, visiting Nurburgring and Spa. It also offers opportunities to visit Ferrari, Lamborghini, Pagani, Porsche, and Mercedes.
(NB-Route avoids Switzerland thus eliminating the need to buy a years toll vignette. Although I understand that they will be introducing cheaper, monthly toll stickers sometime. The same as in Austria. Not sure when though.)
Plus:- Top tip No.2. If anyone is serious about this, and it's going to be built around the F1 GP at Monaco, then book accommodation in the south of France asap! This can be done without the need for a deposit and , in most cases, can be cancelled as late as 24 hrs before date of arrival. So no financial penalty.

This looks a better option. Less driving in Englandshire and arriving in Euroland nice and fresh for a pleasant drive through France!

If heading down/up through France then surely need to include the Route Napoleon (N85 from Cannes to Grenoble) - supposed to be superb.
Not too sure about missing out Switzerland though. Some of the roads/passes there were awesome although this year several were still shut due to snow (inc Stelvio). Advantage of going a bit later is that they're likely to be open but obviously doesn't work if going for Monaco GP. We stopped at Interlaken on the way back and definitely would like to go that away again. St Gottard pass up from Italy (superb), then there's the Furka, Grimsel and Susten passes making a nice loop on the door step.
Another opton in the mix... ferry to Bilbao, Spain then through Pyreness/Andorra to Monaco/Italy then back up through the alps/Germany???
