I'm considering a new car, and the insurance company says I need a tracker, but is a bit vague about which one. I assume a Thatcham approved one would be acceptable?

Secondly, is there any reason why I shouldn't remove it when the car is sold later?

Thirdly, are they actually any good?

Probably.

No.

Yes, aslong as they dont put your car straight into a container. Oh and you can buy basic jammers for £40.

The only advise that I have about trackers is not to look at the monthly subscription, most that I know of have one fitted and then phone up and have them activated if the car goes missing. I am of the impression that high end cars normally end up parked for a couple of days to see if they have a tracker fitted. Check to see if they are asking for you to have one fitted or if they are asking for you to be subscribed to one wink
