Indicated 196mph = Confirmed 182mph

For some reason I'm quite disappointed.

How did you test this? Not surprising though, at least you know its under rather than over which is helpful when dealing with the speed limits.

Standard car with limiter removed 'could', in theory see over 200mph. Factory E61 (and late E60s) limiter is set at circa 170/180mph compared to the E60s 155mph, but its not overtly documented.

Standard car with limiter removed.

Tested on a private runway with timing gear at the end. Speed reached in approx 1.7 miles.

All manufacturers speedos over read, they are designed that way.

Well, I googled that and I'm still none the wiser.

It is possible to code the car such that both the speedo and the HUD show what the car believes to be the real speed, not the over-inflated reading.

Thing is, the car does actually have an accurate GPS speedo running all the time. Dunno why the HUD cannot use the data from that. It can be read in the hidden menu (i'll find a link on how to find this menu in a mo) and it keeps the 'blackbox' fed with incriminating evidence should BMW, Insurance or Police need to throw you into hot water when you really need help.

I am assuming you were the guy with the Touring at Vmax this weekend? If so, Hello!

I managed a verified 192 MPH - my HUD was reading 203 MPH.
