Morning all,

I will have owned my rather lovely HR 350z for 2 years in the new year and have been giving some thought into what, if anything, I'd like to replace it with.

Options i'm considering are as per the title, a Z4M Coupe, a 370z or my wild card would be to whack a rotex supercharger on my current HR 350z and enjoy the pleasures of nigh on 500bhp.

I'd be interested in opinions especially from those who may have made/considered the same switch.

thanks.

Why limit your choice to those options?
Try a cayman or evora- you may like them. Have fun deciding.

Everything i read about the cayman says i should love it but it just looks a bit bland to me, i prefer the curves inside and out of the zeds, that said it would still be worth checking one out just to be sure.

Budget wise I think (although have not checked)the evora would be out of reach, I'm looking at 2009 370z, 56 plate Z4Ms.

I just check the evora prices.....Sadly I'm a long way short of evora money.

By all accounts the rotex supercharger on the HR is a very reliable bit of kit and the engine, gear box and clutch are able to handle the increase, abbey motorsport have done around 5 so far and the owners speak highly of conversions.

I do have one other option that is possibly a bit more mental than a supercharger....How about a nice LS2 V8 dropped intpo the 350z? it seems quite popular in the states and I'm not aware of anyone in the UK doing in a zed yet....400bhp, 400lb foot tourque and a sound track to wake the dead and wrapped up in a nice looking 350 does sound nice.

A stock LS2 wouldnt excite you that much, a modified or supercharged one however would be very very nice indeed but also costly.

As a curve ball, z3m coupe. A modern classic, it won't loose any cash, may even make some. Better looking than the above and a little more raw to drive.

Wouldn't get a 370z as they are very similar to the 350z.

How much would the supercharger conversion cost?

From stuff I've read on here I would say, if you could get a conversion done for sub 4k, you'd be doing well.

Z4M coupe, but then I would say that wink

Having owned a 350Z the more I think about it the more I suspect they're quite similar cars actually, though it was a long time ago I had the Nissan.

Z4M is a definite progression from the 350Z in that it's the same type of car (gorgeous looks, stonking engine, meaty gear change, wild handling) but with everything improved slightly.

You're nowhere near Cumbria otherwise you could have tried mine but get in one & see what you think. Some go in thinking its going to be like a glamorous M3, but it defiantly isn't.

I once read its the best TVR that BMW ever made & having owned one a while I'd have to agree, wild looks, mad handling & an engine from the gods smile

Really? I mean i enjoy the 3.5 litre V6 so was thinking that a nice exhaust coupled with a V8 that runs plenty more power and torque would be great fun....when you say cost do you me the initial conversion or upkeep?

I can't help but agree, i have always loved the Z3M too, i guess that kind of ticks a lot of boxes...as long as it isn't one with the garish interior...never seem to be many decent ones about for sale though.

Its not cheap....in fact its pretty scary....given that my car is totally standard I'd need a proper exhaust, high flow cats, remap etc so with the supercharger, fitting and set up I'd be looking about 11k.

However, the flip side is that I would have a 3.5 litre V6 front engined, rear drive, 500bhp road monster of doom!

I've not priced the LS2 conversion up but based on what little i have looked into i think it would be a little cheaper as would be able to sell on my HR lump for a few grand.
