Basically, do any modifications need an engineers report these days to be submitted to the insurers before they underwrite the vehicle?. Also, where might I find or obtain such a report from?.

How would this work if I found a car at a dealership which has had mods such as an aftermarket exhaust and air filter, would they be willing to provide one or are they just not interested?.

BTW It's not a question of not declaring any mods and then insuring it, because thats naughty.....

It's been a while since I've modified anything, hence my ignorance on the issue. The vehicle in question is a WRX having had a remap, exhaust and filter.

TIA

No, I wouldn't have thought so. Essentially you're declaring items which either make the car go faster, stop faster or make it more nickable therefore the price reflects this, it's unimportant whether you have been entirely truthful about specs/increased power since an engineers report can be used to hang you after a claim anyway!

depends on the insurer, most just ask what mods there are. some will want photos, valuations, engineers reports etc.

The mainstream insurers want you to declare the modifications, which on a mainstream car should be a reasonably short list.

If you want to massively modify a car, then you'll be looking at a very different insurance market and product, in which case the insurer may want some professional clarification of what they are being asked to cover.
