Help needed for track day car choice - all advice welcome
Discussion
Hi. I have the chance to buy a Tiger Fury with a ZX12 engine in for £6k - the car is being built to my spec with a quick shifter (bad back), and being made road legal. The mechanic is James from P J Motor Services in Box, who by all accounts is a well respected bike-engined kit car maker, so I don't imagine there will be any mechanical issues. The price also includes half a day at castle combe to set the car up to my spec.
My question is - is this good value for money? or could I buy something better for the same kind of money? or should I even be going down the 'track-day only' car route, and instead be buying a competent (but cheaper) road car until I'm up to speed?
My background is motorbike track days, of which I would call myself a fast intermediate, sometimes straying into the fast group - my favorite track is Anglesey GP, and my local track is Castle Combe.
The plan is to sell my bike (Aprilia Tuono), give up the bike track days, and do about 8 car track days a year, (plus some hill climbs maybe).
Sorry if this is a subject that's been covered many times, but this is my first step into the world of car track days, and I want to do it properly - and have as much fun as my £6k will allow me!
Cheers

Well, I'm sure it's called a Tiger - looks like a robin hood/westfield kind of car. He used to run it in RGB racing before they changed to 1000cc (I think - might have just imagined that!).
One thing I do remember - he said it'll be faster than the current crop of RGB racers, as the engine is far more powerful, just not eligible to race.

Hmm, I pretty sure it's been off the road for at least 4 years, so wouldn't be eligible.
I think, it's plus points are - it's going to be fast, and well put-together & engineered.
The minus points are - it's probably quite old and nobody has heard of it, so will effect resale in the future.
Mr Indecisive strikes again.
I suppose really, what I'm after, is any viable alternatives to consider.

Maybe this will help:

apparently this car is a newer version of the one I'm thinking of buying.
I've just test-drove the Tiger B6 ZX9R, and I have never ever tried anything madder in my life, and I've been riding 1000cc+ motorbikes for the last ten years.
This should be illegal!
Will also dig out a photo of the Tiger I want to buy and see if it starts to make sense.
Thanks

i'd be getting a piccie and posting it here for a view as to what the heck teh car actually is! as has been said a tiger is a tiger and a fury a fury.....totally diff style cars. The Tiger B6 was ( i think ) the only recognized bike engined Tiger, no doubt a few bike engines have found their way into other models - but they woulednt have been designed with that powerplant in mind.
you mentioned trackdays in the title and again in teh brief overview - if you're angling purely at a T/D weapon, then yuou'd prob get the best value buying a car that isnt road legal.....the consensus i think is that to go through the IVA hoops to be able to register a car for teh road is between 600-1000: cost of teh test, retest, hassle + time taking the car along and being prepared to take it back if it fails and the extra safety bits n pieces required for teh test which afterwards seem to 'fall off'.
no offence but it would appear that you arent that clued up on the various kits out there ( maybe that impression is wrong).....worth getting along to a local meet, seeing a few cars in the flesh and seeing what floats your boat ( and what feels comfortable).....
