Soundproofing - any recommendations?

I've decided that when I eventually get round to re-doing the carpets in the Tuscan, that I want a bit more soundproofing. The road noise and boominess of the exhaust since de-catting are the main culprits so thinking of doing the floors, parcel shelf and rear bulkhead.
Has anyone had good success doing this? and if so what material did you use? Dynamat seems to be the market leader but priced accordingly. Ideally I don't want to add too much weight but if i'm going to do it then it needs to offer the best acoustic barrier.
The market seems to have loads of alternatives buy with the materials ranging from plain rubber sheet, to amazing new nanotech nonsense, i'm struggling to work out what's best!

I used FATMAT Xtreme throughout my Chim & am very pleased with the results. Significant reduction in road noise is the main improvement, plus the door speakers sound a lot better. Bought it off eBay, member technick!

Assume you haven't left it looking like that !- or is the idea that you fill the whole interior with ice R
as it looks like the inside of a cooler box ?

I must be missing the point here, one of the main reasons I drive a tvr is for the noise! If I didn't have that then I don't think I would have one
I think your missing the point 
the nice noise doesn't come from underneath, this helps reduce road noise mostly but also to try and help prevent heat soak through from the engine. All meaning you can hear and enjoy the exhaust note better

It's only to dampen down the resonance, and reduce tyre/road noise. I've been speaking to several places and Dynamat type products will only do a small amount of noise reduction as they're mainly designed to dampen resonance in larger metal panels. It will help a bit, but not a lot.
So my current plan is to use a few sheets of this stuff to do the damping (it's basically identical to dynamat): Link
Followed by some decent acoustic cloth under the carpet. The FT 55AL here: Link seems to be the best stuff i've found but i'm concerned about it's weight and thickness so i'll only get it if the guy doing my interior retrim is ok with it.
