Alfa Romeo Brera or Golf Gti

I have been looking for a new car for a very long time, previously doing 'what car' threads.
I have finally narrowed my choices down to the two cars above, Alfa Romeo brera 3.2 V6, or mk5 golf gti. The car I really want is a lotus Elise S2, however it's not really a practical decision.
So basically I was just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the two cars overall.

That seems very true, the Alfa in my opinion is one of the best looking cars around. I would also presume it would be a much nicer place to be, albeit maybe not quite as good to drive. The Golf is something you buy with your head .

What criteria have you used to narrow it down to those two?
Wouldn't have a Brera if you gave me one. Hugely heavy and the styling shows it, the side view is dumpy and the arse is horrible.
The coupe version of a car should always look better but the 159 is a much, much better looking car.

350Z are rather cheap at the moment...just an example!
the GTI is a bit of a bore these days
i'd go with the Brera but i'd say the GTI would be a whole lot easier to maintain

Budget will be around £8000-£10000, so I appreciate there is a lot of choice for that price range.
I will need the car to be able to carry all of my filming equipment, which includes: 2 or 3 camera's, tripods, lighting kit and sound kit so takes up a lot of room.
Other than the fact I need to get all of that in the car im pretty open to options, but they seem to be the two cars I have been looking at, the Alfa more for the aesthetics, whereas the golf more for the 'all rounder' tag.

What are you a mature age student, or something? If not, what the hell is a student doing saying something like,"however it's not really a practical decision".
Practical is for when you are a jaded 30 something with a mortgage, kids, & the rest of the catastrophe.
Get the thing you really want, now, while you can. There will be many years of being practical, it's nice to have a bit of impractical [& fun even if it was a catastrophe] to look back on then.

This. I love Alfas but the Brera is an abortion. The concept car was lovely but the real thing was poor. Or get a 3.2 GT V6. Or a proper GTV-v6.It has a 'proper' 3.2 Alfa engine, not a half assed vauxhall one and is a better allrounder.
This one belongs to a mate of mine, and has something like 20K miles on it from when he bought it new back in 2004.
