Amazing to me how in this era of ecological frenzy that we seem to be going backward, we used to have a near silent, electric powered vehicle to deliver our Milk, the paper was delivered by a young lad on a bicycle.
Now, we have a clattering diesel Transit arrive with the dawn chorus to deliver the milk, starting and stopping every few yards, the door slammed and sometimes the alternator belt slipping, the milkman now no longer has to whistle Strangers in the Night and clank the bottles together to wake us up.
The papers arrive now via a 1999 1.6 Astra with an impressive bottom end knock, clack clack clack, door slams, hacking cough from the grumpy old guy that drives it, the stereo is still in good working order and we get treated to a few blasts of Radio 2 every morning.
Where did the Milk floats and Paper boys all go, are these the same paper boys monopolising the role and not letting new blood in, will kids nowadays not deliver 50 kilos of Mail on Sunday plus 23 assorted supplements for £2.25 a week any more ?

We buy milk from the shop en route to and from places so as green as we can be on that score. Don't get papers but the local freebie is delivered by kids hauling little trollies around a very hilly estate. Long way to go for something that goes straight in the recycling but there ya go.
