commuter light waterproof suggestions please

As per the title, i'm looking for something to throw in by bag that wont take up too much space for those days when the skies open and getting soaked isn't an option. I've seen items from Lusso starting at about £30 going up to about £220 from Rapha. What would people suggest, and what do you do about your legs? i'm not keen on carrying a spare pair of trousers but don't really see much option. Perhaps when my office re-org is over i'll have somewhere I can store a spare pair. As it's for my commute I'd like something bright or with reflective bits :-)

Paid £12 for this at Sports Direct. Muddyfox seem like an OK brand, jacket and zips are good quality (and waterproof) and the green across the shoulders and arms makes you more visible.

how far is your commute? if its 30+ mins then there really is no point in waterproofs as you will be wet after this amount of time due to the fact there is a hole in the top where your head comes through + sweat, better off accepting the rain and staying warm, lots of people say it and it seems daft but for a majority of people it is better to just get some warm clothes that dont hold the water and get wet.

I have a rapha softshell which is awesome very expensive (but if your gf buys it for you as a surprise bday present what can you do!) and keeps me warm and dry for about 30 mins.

If you want similar in the form of a softshell (warm and water resistant, which is what i would advocate) the vulpine stuff is supposed to be good and a bit cheaper.

commute is about 20 minutes. I don't have to go fast so sweating wont be too much of a problem unless I buy something thick and heavy.

you can get waterproof trousers for cycling, the nightvision stuff by altura (available at evans and wiggle) may be ideal? they do jackets and trousers i think
