good supermarket white

Im after a few bottles of a fairly good white wine, preferably able to buy from a superrmarket as I dont have any shops other than that to get them from, well theres always online, but id rather not.

anyway, I dont really want to spend more than 15 quid a bottle.

so any reccomendations?

Yes. We discovered a good Vouvray from Sainsbury's recently at £6.99. Don't let the price put you off. It is very palatable. They only sell two or three so you should spot it by the price.

lol Im not a price snob, as i know there can sometimes be good deals on cheap wine.

hell, ill even drink black tower and enjoy it, but fancyed seeing if the price does reflect better teasting wine, but i do understand taste is subjective an all.

Seriously.

I'd rate it higher than any other supermarket Chablis offering below £15.

i thought most supermarkets had cottoned on to the fact that people see New Zealand Sauv Blanc as an "educated bet" and as such all have a decent one on offer to get people into the wine aisle?

Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Verdiccio is pretty tasty. £7.49 normally, but I've had it for £4.99 on occasion.

If you fancy a red try Aldi's Toro Loco Temprinillo for £3.49.

cheers for that, even though I couldn't find it, found a viognier which starts with the same letter and was very nice.

Try an Argentinian Torrontes.
Should be -£10 and I've tried several supermarket ones & they've always been fantastic.

Alternatively, you could of course create your own expensive Chablis or Sancerre by using the following method:

-Buy a £7 New World white. Something like a McGuigan estate Chardonnay will do.
-Quaff a very small glass (100ml) & enjoy.
-Add 80ml of tap water back in to the New World plonk bottle.
-Top up with a good dash of white wine vinegar.

Voila! - you now have a full bottle of £20 French wine with all the usual characteristics you'd expect.
You will be the blind-tasting envy of all your dinner party guests for years to come.

If you want or like a hefty zesty whit that can stand up t o big curry, try Puklavec and Friends sauvignon blanc.

Waitrose, I think £8.99.

Other than that a decent Louis Jadot impression should not disapoint.

I've tried some very high end wines in some very good restaurants, thanks very much. I just don't like wine, simple as that. I'll use it in cooking, but that's all. Or sprinkle it on fish'n'chips
