I take it you guys didn't lose any family or friends at Hillsborough? If you had, you'd know how important it that the truth has been uncovered. So if you have nothing constructive to add, with all due respect, stay out of the topic - thank you.
I have something constructive and have added it. It does nothing for a country to behave today as if the tragedy happened yesterday, when it was in fact more than 20 years ago.I didn't see Merseyside erupt in grief at any time during 2008, on the 20 year anniversary of the hundreds of deaths at Lockerbie.
Frankly, if there is still grieving to be done, it should be done in private and not hoisted on the rest of the population many years after the event. If there is justice to be found, go and get it through the appropriate channels.

Was that a minute's silence before last night's game?
Why?
It wasn't a minutes silence, it was a minutes applause whilst the Hollies song "He's not heavy, he's my brother" was played. Why?
It was to symbolise that many merseyside families were affcted by this tradgedy, both Reds and Blues, and that the truth about the tradgedy had finally been officially recognised, instead of the lies and coverup that had been known about for years.

Oh FFS, what a load of mawkish cobblers.
Thankfully the cover up by the authorities has been uncovered, but this continual merry-go-round of pseudo grief we're all supposed to join in with is embarrassing nonsense.
Spot on. Thankfully the cover up by the authorities has been uncovered, but this continual merry-go-round of pseudo grief we're all supposed to join in with is embarrassing nonsense.

Yes families we're affected, but not on this date, not on any anniversary of this date. Nothing to do with this game. The Holllies?
Yes it was a tragedy. But Everton v Newcastle on a Monday Night in September has nothing to do with it.
And applause? In this instance it's just odd.
We, as a nation do this too often. Yes we should respect the dead but a minute's applause for the long-retired groundsman is too far.
Stereotypes on the whole are a bad thing but sometimes people (cities) live up to them.
I applaud the news that the truth has come out about the cover up.
I look forward to those truly responsible being brought to justice.
If Everton fans clapping, while two kids are dressed up in kits with 96 on the back, on a Monday night game against Newcastle hastens that process then good luck.
However, the more this goes on, the more rival fans will look on thinking "WTF", "again?" or " oh it must be the 23 year 249 day anniversary" and sympathy will rapidly run out.

Oh, the delightful irony. The rivalry between Liverpool and Everton is well documented, and at times nasty. At the end of the day they have put their differences aside over Hillsborough, and Evertonians have always been supportive.
This gesture was another example of Everton FC openly supporting the families and friends of the 96.
Respect, Everton FC.
