Looking to take the wife somewhere nice for her 30th (couple of nights).. I have found some lists of "Best Spas" online but I would like some recommendations. Anywhere in the UK is an option..

My Mrs works on Spa Secrets magazine and when we went away she chose The Grove in Watford. It was good.

Interestingly I know The Grove very well from having a number of work meetings there. I rate it very highly..

Looks good. Have you been yourself? What did you like about it?

Yep, mrs envy treated me last year.

It's small, much smaller than the grove, the service is far more personal and the restaurant and wine list easily beats the grove.

Plus the bar man knocks up a killer vodka martini.

We went to Penny Hill Park the day after we were married, it was a very relaxing place, the spa was excellent offering loads of his and hers treatments. The only thing I had to get over was my wife pointing out every England rugby player...by name...Peter Crouch and various other people.

Still very worth it!

As regular spa goers, we would recommend Chewton Glen in the New Forest and Cowley Manor in the Costwolds. Both very different but both the best we have found so far.

If you want upmarket go to Chewton Glen, if you want intimate go to Cowley Manor. For both midweek is best...

+1's for Lucknam Park and Cowley Manor. Both excellent - Lucknam is more traditional & formal, Cowley is very funky.

Babington is fantastic.

Carey's Manor didn't impress.

I'm a member at Malvern Spa as its 500 meters from home. It's also 500 meters from the Morgan Motor Company so go on a week day and book a factory tour, well worth the £10 cost per person.

4 seasons is around the corner from us and featured in a Sunday Times SPA special. Don't know how good it is?
