Planning on going for a short break this weekend and im after booking a hotel room.

I have found a hotel through Expedia and it says i can book it as its available.

But when i go onto the hotels own website its says there is no availability for the night i selected.

So is Expedia going to let me book up only for me to get an email shortly afterwords saying the hotel is fully booked or is the reason there is no availability on the hotels own website is because Expedia has been allocated an certain amount of rooms?

Expedia often gets allocated a certain number of rooms. Every hotel, especially if it's a chain, will hold back a certain number of rooms, primarily due to their loyalty programs, as some loyalty programs guarantee availability and/or upgrades. If expedia says it's available, it's available. It's only websites like hotwire, where you book a location at a price point, the hotel name is only revealed to you AFTER you've paid.
