body fitting questions
Discussion
Hi all. I'm fitting the front clip and trying to work out where the body buffers sit on the front bulkhead for the clip to rest on. From the pic in the manual they look to be about 23-24 cms either side of the centre line, with the edge of the buffer about 1.5cms from the return edge on the cockpit. Could anybody let me know if this is about right please?
Also, in the body buffers bag there are 2 pieces of foam about 9"x1.5"x1" but I'm not sure what they are for. Thanks.

From memory there is a small dimple in the gel coat to mark where the buffers go.
The foam fits inside the bottom return on the front clip. when closed the foam is between the clip and the side pod. You vary the thickness of the foam such that the foam forces the bottom edge of the clip out to align with the side pod.

Three pics I’ve just taken.
One shows where the foam presses against the side of the step at the front of the side pod. You can see the scuff marks that are caused by road grit getting down the side of the foam. You will get used to rubbing the grit off the foam each time you close the clip. I have seen one car where the owner has capped the step with stainless steel. It worked well so may go that route myself when I can no longer clean up the scuff marks.

Thanks Steve. I was wondering how to get the canopy to line up with the side pods.
The manual says that the bulkhead should be marked for the bumpers, but I can't find any dimples (mine is a can-am, so will be from a different mold). I guessed that because the manual says the bulkhead should be marked that position might be important. Has anybody got any measurements that I could use? Cheers, Clive
