Gearing question...

Looking at diff options for a mainly road but ocasionally drag TVR Chimaera...

With my new planned diff and box I get the following. Engine will have plenty of power do you think I need a higher diff ??

Wanted to crack 60 in first but no chance on this new 6speed box I think, might as well go for economy now lol

6th just looks kinda like crazy too me...



gears are:-

3.01, 2.07, 1.43, 1.00, 0.84, 0.57

Diff I have is 2.88 or a 3. something...calculations are on 2.88

Mine just cracks 60mph in first, and i have a 3.08 diff, but am revving to 74-7500rpm.
I only have 5 gears with my TKO600, and those revs netted a 202mph with a 0.82 top ratio.

The 6th on the T56 is a 300mph gear, good luck with that!

So do you think I should run with that and just use 6th as a economy thing or look for a taller diff??

The gearing looks good to me until sixth lol I was gonna go for the tko600 but these tr6060 are just too cheap to pass up on!

taller? no.
1st is going to tall with a 2.88.

I was planning on shifting at 7.5k

With 18's on It would hit 60 'just!'

Couldn't you just take a spare pair of (suitably sized) rear wheels along for the drag racing ?

Years ago I had a spare set of larger rolling radius ones for my Lotus Seven, which otherwise would have been a little low-geared for motorways.
