Easy Jet to Le Mans

This might have already been posted, but if so forgive me. The news around here is that the little aerodrome is being upgraded to an airport, and that Easy Jet are going to be running flights to here. Now given the size of the runway, you won't be seeing 737's or the like, but much more probable is around 50 seaters. Keep your eyes peeled for a possible announcement from EJ, or it might just crop up on the net.
I took the TGV from Paris to the Classic this year. It only takes an hour and there are regular trains all day. So if I was flying to Le Mans it would be CDG and TGV all the way. No way would I trust SleasyJet to get me there. Plus the prices will be a rip off on race weekend.
In fact if you are central London based I would have thought Eurostar and TGV would be a better option than driving or flying.

Hey, don't shoot the messenger! We'll see about prices, but I am sure you are right on this count though. On another note, if any of you know the Hotel de France at La Chartre sur le Loir, it is changing hands. Been bought out by the old Gulf Porsche people, Hurley Cluxton III and John Horsman apparently.

We're not shooting the messenger (sorry if felt that way) but the message! I don't think hardcore Le Mans fans will benefit much of EasyJet flying to LM. My preference goes out to the Car, but train is also not bad for other people.As far as I'm aware Easyjet only fly A319-321's and as someone said the runway is too short for this so it would need to be a serious upgrade. This may also have a big impact on the local area and the proximity of Bleu. I for one will still be driving as you can't do glamping with a 20kg baggage limit, last year I had about 200kg's worth of kit in the Landy! 
Well that is interesting about the hotel not easyjet The hotel was always a place we visited on friday before st saturin started when there would be plenty of old cars and we would have a drink or coffee in the hotel looking at all the old racing bits and photo's all over the walls, it it is the gulf people they should at least keep all the stuff on display.

For most people the journey down is a mutch a part of Le Mans as the race itself.
A relaxing drive through a foreign country on holiday, in convoy with friends, pimping up your motor maybe stopping off for a lunch and beer and so Mutch more.
Who wants the stress of an airport and cr*p airline ?

If it happens then great. No point dismissing it and saying it won't work before it has even got going.
Another option for people to get to the race is no bad thing.
I'm sure pricing of the flights will increase at race week, but if you work out what you spend on petrol, tolls, snacks on route, ferry, tunnel or train tickets, it will probably still be cheaper.
Get a camping option with tents and sleeping bags pre erected or a hotel close by, and you don't that need much clothing or gear.
It won't suit my needs, i couldn't imagine the event without the drive included, but for some I'm sure it will be useful.
