2008 Fiat Bravo JTD - heater not working.

A friend has recently bought an 08 Fiat Bravo JTD.

With the onset of the cooler weather, he tried to use the heater, but he's not getting any heat out of the vents.

He checked the coolant level (I wasn't there - but apparently it says something under the bonnet about paraffin??!!).

In any case - the coolant level was fine, and a nice pink colour, which I presume is correct!

I 'Googled' a bit, and there seems to be a lot of heater matrix / radiators listed on ebay, which suggests to me there may be a common fault with the heater matrix?

Any help would be appreciated.

My wife's fiat multipla jtd ( long since sold) suffered from a stuck thermostat which obviously prevented the engine gettiing warm and hence any heat from the heater. It was not really noticeable in summer and she only realised when the weather turned colder.

I assume it's a 'Bravo' you are referring too. These cars have a terrible reputation for reliability hence the reason why you never see them. Did said friend not do his homework??

if you had consulted the orcales of PH before buying we would have told you to steer clear of Fiats

i saw Fiat Puntos for 16k today, had a good old chuckle about someone paying that for one

It is indeed Bravo

He did his homework, but didn't ask me before buying it.

I have no experience of fiats but he could try flushing out the coolant and refilling first, could be old and gunky. Then try thermostat / heater matrix.

It's Fiat's own/recommended brand of coolant.
As mentioned above it may well be the thermostat. Tell him to keep an eye on his temp gauge and see how quickly the engine is warming up.
