Looking for people's experiences with different tyres that I'm considering for a 1981 SC with 16 inch Fuchs. Choice is mainly for trackday use (I run 15 inch cookie cutters on Toyos for 'everyday' use).

Doing the web research, the tyres coming out on top are:

Bridgestone SO3 PP Max

Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3

Michelin Pilot Sport PS2

Toyo Proxes T1-S

The ex-PMD mechanic who services the car does not rate the Toyos, although I have found other Toyos OK in everyday use.

I have done a couple of trackdays on the 15 inch rims with the Toyos and the handling was a little soft. I am trying 16 inch rims with best possible tyres before going the whole hog and fitting clubsport spec bilsteins all round combined with turbo spec ARBs.

Experiences please.

Mainly track and the possibility of rain, Yoko A032R is really a good choice.

I ran Pireli PzeroCs (road legal track tyre) and found them very good on track in the dry. They were a real bargainn on 16 inch rims from Silverline in Warwick about £70 each
