Tried the usual ebay etc so thought I'd ask here, I'm looking for a S2 or 968 crank or possibly a short engine, anyone here have one ?.

I think someone on PCGB recently mentioned having a spare S2 engine

Have you tried Kevin at EMC in Birmingham ?

difficult to get a short engine these days. may be easier to buy a wreck of a car and harvest the bits you need, thats what i did when i nuked my s2 engine a couple years ago. it was cost effective because we got loads out of it.

I have spoken to Nick though he's had an offer from EMC already.

Another thought - a few weeks ago RPM Technik had a 944 in that an iterate wife had taken to with a hammer (it was quite a sight!) I am not sure what flavour of 944 it was or whether the engine was spared the good lady's indignation but it would be worth a call.

Possibly, but if they said bend over and brace yourself, no deal.
