Dealers 3 Month Warranty ??

It varies from a gate warranty (if you get beyond the gate you're on your own) to something like where I work where every nut and bolt on the car is covered, anywhere in the world, for a year.
You'll get people telling you that a dealer has to warranty a car for 3/6 months or whatever, ignore them, they're talking b
ks. The dealer has obligations under the Sale of Goods Act but enforcing them would mean court action which is costly and time consuming and never guaranteed to go in your favour (as with all court action).

Who is backing the warranty, have you actually read the T&C's? I suspect doing this will help a lot, as in it'll tell what is and isn't covered under the warranty or to what extent. It'll also state any upper caps or any excess fees that may apply.I have had loads of mixed opinions on the warranty that dealers offer!

It's also worth remembering there is no legal obligation to supply a warranty on a used car - none at all!
However ask yourself this:
"did you buy the car with the expectation that it'll go wrong?"

One thing to bear in mind about warranties is as the car gets older and higher mileage, less coverage is available through a warranty, even if you bought your own warranty and it was the best one on the market.
Basicly the more likely it is to go wrong the less likely it will be covered by any warranty.
Warrnaty companies take more money in premiums than they pay out fixing cars.
Main dealer warranties are usually excellent, but they mostly sell nearly new cars, and you pay a premium for the car.
If something major goes wrong to cause it to break down within such a short period of time that the car must have been sold with an existing fault. Then the dealer could be liable. Other than that it's unlikely to go your way.
Buy the best car you can. Condition and history are king.
Dont buy a cheap example of the particualr model you are interested in.
