Sushi near Birmingham?

Having spent last week in Tokyo I've developed a minor sushi/sashimi obsession. Does anyone have a recommendation for a sushi place in or around Birmingham? I know there are a couple of places in the city center but have no idea about how good they are.

Yo Sushi in the centre. Be prepared to take out a mortgage though if you are hungry.

Its really easy to drop £30 a head on food alone in there and still not feel full.

That place seems to have pretty mixed reviews on tripadvisor et al. Might chance it though.

Is Yo Sushi good enough to justify the prices? I don't mind a hefty bill if the foods very good.

I've always been a bit underwhelmed by Yo Sushi. It's sat in the middle of the food department at Selfridges, so there is the hustle and bustle of shoppers going on around you and while the food has been OK, I'm not a fan of the random, conveyor, what looks good approach, albeit you can order from a menu.

Personally I prefer the ambiance of a dedicated restaurant.

At least it gives you a good reason to try both!

Another vote for Shogun - not been there in ages so wasn't going to say anything in case it has changed, but better than most of the 'obvious' chain choices!

I'll give Shogun a try then and maybe do Yo Shushi one Sunday. Thanks for the suggestions - I'll report back on what I thought!

Tried it on Friday. Food was pretty good but as an experience it wasn't that great. The staff were pretty rude for a start. Also very loud in there - I know it's the style of the 'Teppanyaki' bit but I got pretty tired of the chef tapping out tunes with his cooking implements.
