As per the title, Chris Evans was talking about a car he had lent to Vassos and out of curiosity I was wondering if anyone had any idea what car it was they were talking about?

The only clues are that it is a V12, thirsty, looks good, and Chris described the price he paid at auction as a steal? It also sounded like he had bought it reasonably recently. XJS was my first thought (Vassos mentioned butresses as a nice design feature).

Any ideas?

Apart from the price paid being a steal; V12, thirsty and looks good doesn't really narrow it down when talking about Chris Evans' cars hehe

Think he may have said XJS, and he mentioned buttresses, so I'm thinking XJS.

An XJS. His latest purchase apparently.

I like Mr Evans. A lot.

He bought a Bentley Mulsanne a couple of weeks ago & took it home with him. It appears that he was then contacted by someone who had been at the same auction & who lost out to Mr E in the auction.

The guy had wanted the car as a 45th wedding anniversary present for his wife - the car is now with the guy who lost out because Mr Evans let him have it.

That sums him up. He could have told the guy to naff off. He didn't. He did a deal on the car so now the other bidders wife has the car.

Top man is Mr Evans.

Cheers guys, would make sense as he was extolling the virtues of big old Jags and how cheaply you can pick them up at the moment.

It's great being able to listen to someone who could be one of the worlds greatest pistonheads every morning.

Pretty sure he said he paid £4500 for it.

What detail? I'm gusessing it wasn't 'only £300'?

Didn't hear XJS, but did hear "Jaguar", "V12" and "flying butresses", so I too am going with XJS

Agreed, The Bridge story has been brilliant, what a guy he is. As I understand it he hasn't actually bought the complete bridge though he seemed to think he had, now it's simply one side of the facade. He put his bid in just to kick start the sale and there were no further bids!! Brilliant, I just love his show but we digress......
