Laid a lovely new seeded lawn over the summer and they have come in last night and dug half of it up.

I know you can't harm them (not that i would want to however angry)

But is there something i can put on the lawn to deter them ?

They're more than likely digging for crane fly grubs. Treat the lawn in summer to get rid of these, and the badgers won't dig.

For now, put down piles of raw peanuts elsewhere in the garden. Badgers will eat these in preference.

I like badgers, but there are too many of them and they are seemingly untouchable. Why this is I have no idea. I have also no idea why they cannot be controlled like any other pest.

if you have a badger run through your garden go and pi55 where they come through the hedge/fence and they wont come back, has worked for us.
Willy Nilly they are being controlled in Gloucester, licence has been granted for a cull to try and control TB, totally dissagree, but thats DEFRA and the government again, total pr1cks in my opinion, they are not pests.
Astroarcadia WTF is a HW97k ?

a hw97k is a wheirack (spelling may be off) high power air rifle, i have a hw70k for targeting at the local club. could not think for a moment i would shoot a badger or any living thing with one. just not on in my books no matter how much i love shooting.

An HW97 would just make Brer Badger a bit cross - hard bds badgers. OP, whatever you do, ask them politely!
