About 3 years ago I sold my beloved Chimaera due to financial worries, but have come through all that now, and am once again looking to re-light my TVR flame.
My old car was a 1995 Chimaera 4 HC and had the following problems in the couple of years I owned her:
Leaked like a bugger - from the boot seal and also the windscreen seal on the near side.
Car overheated until I fitted an over-ride switch.
Was a complete nightmare for hot starting - basically it didn't.!!
The seal between the fabric part of the roof and the car body was not sealing.
The door seals left a lot to be desired.
I've just spotted a 1997 (updated model compared to the one I used to own). Have the problems I experienced above been sorted out now, or do I still need to keep an eye out for these problems.
If the problems still persist, what can I do to remedy them.??
What's the air conditioning like in a Chimaera.??
I'm not looking for a car with the build quality of some German marques out there - or I'd go out and buy one of those, but I'd like to be a bit prepared this time around.
Also - I can't remember the company who does the headlight conversion - can you please refresh my memory. Is it very expensive.??
Cheers everyone in advance.
Nick.

Hi Nick, I've just sold my 1995 Chimaera 400 and replaced it with a 1998 Chimaera 500.
My 1995 car never leaked so I can't comment on that but the thing to do is to sit inside the potential car and get the vendor to run a hose pipe under it.
They do run warm but the post 1997 cars have larger bonnet vents and no grill so cooling is imroved, you can get a lower firing otter switch for about a tenner which helps it run cooler
I've never had aircon
Zertec do the headlamp upgrades.
I see you are in South Wales if you look at one around the South West at all give me a shout and I'll come and have a look with you.
