Im looking into getting a Senegal parrot and am trying to find someone who has already got one, so I can find out what they are like to keep and look after etc etc. also trying to find a recommended breeder as the prices I have seen vary and I'd like to be sure I buy from a good breeder.

Any help appreciated

Lol how old is your parrot?? If your local to me, Yorkshire, would you recommend the shop/breeder you bought it from??

Are they hard to keep and are they easy to train to do tricks and things??

Nowhere near you i'm afraid i'm in bedfordshire ,we bought him from a garden centre pet shop that is no longer trading i think he is about 15 i'll ask the mrs when she gets in . They are messy buggers flicking food all over and appears to like stting out of the cage , get a cage with a skirt around it to minimise the mess! They are easy to keep but do have a mind of their own so not sure about training mine does try to talk but with not much of a repertoire it tends to be a whistled talk but is obvious what he is saying .

They're loud, jealous, temperamental and stroppy. Also amazing fun and very affectionate if you're in their good books.

They behave like 3 year old kids in many ways.

They have distinct personalities, some are very smart and great mimics, learn easily and read your moods very well. Others are thick as st!

My parrot used to learn my ringtone and 'phone' in the middle of the night. I learned to shout 'hello' rather than get out of bed but had to change my ringtone every couple of weeks... bd thing hehe

Found a breeder through Bird Trek pretty easily last year when looking for a Hahns Macaw. Not got a Senegal though so can't help there I'm afraid. About 5 years into parrot ownership now so any specific questions just ask away smile
