X Trail purchase?

Replacing the terrano and wifes 206 soon with 1 car due to age and to avoid costly mots and repairs. Both have been very good but need to drop to 1 car and quit while both are worth something and in good order.

The 206 is economical all round so is my wifes daily drive. The terrano is to pull a caravan and play in mud on occasions. Would an X Trail give a little mix of both, save fuel and be as reliable? People tell me yes so what would about 8 grand get but more importantly any horror stories or should I look elsewhere?

Next door neighbour has just bought one to tow his horse box, he reckons its pretty good especially in fields etc
