Something a bit cheaper would be more realistic...

An early MX5 would do me, but not enough space.

An other ideas for a decent-to-drive rwd 2+2 from the past 15 years that could be used as a daily driver (some of the time) isn't an RX8?

As somebody who likes cars and bikes, I get little opportunity to ride my bike these days (other than commuting) due to work and family commitments so a fun, interesting car would help me to indulge my interest.

Something that could carry 2 children in the back would be more useful than a 2-seater.

A TVR wouldn't be "daily-driver" enough for my needs.

Isn't there an issue with the likelihood of potentially ruinous engine problems on these?

It would seem that a small proportion of them exploded early on though if it hasn't happened by 40k miles it's unlikely to happen. There's still a few issues which need consideration but choose well and you won't have a problem. Certainly no more than the top end rebuilds that a 964 would require.

I'm massively biased, but they represent great value, are unlikely to depreciate, drive in a modern manner, are more than quick enough, practical, and built quite unlike anything more modern from Porsche.
The looks divide opinion- but to me remain the last good looking 911- but they offer a great deal for not much cash.
For me it would be a Carerra 2, manual with sports seats. Keep it original and you won't lose money.

Anything earlier would also keep me immensely happy.

Me too having wanted one for years I borrowed one my Dad had in stock for 3 weeks.

Looked great but didn't go, stop or corner particularly well and "flat six howl" my arse sounded like a Beetle, one of my greatest motoring disappointments.

I'd make sure you have a long test drive before buying one.
