AMG 63 Brakes

Has anyone changed their 63 brakes? How long did they last? How much was the main dealer (I've heard the fronts alone can be >£1000 for discs and pads) or indie charge? Is the OEM approach the only way to go or is there a satisfactory and cheaper alternative?

My car's a 07 CLS 63 without the larger performance pack brakes. I believe the brakes on other 63s are the same or at least close to the CLS. I don't do track days.

I was quoted £2300 for new front pads and discs by a MB dealer.

Car is C63 with Performance Package Plus.

And no, I haven't got up off the floor yet!
