Last night, I was thinking... if I have 14% bodyfat and weigh 145lbs, that means that 20.3lbs of my body is fat. (Yuck!) That's what percentage bodyfat means, right?

Anyway, I want to get down to 10% bodyfat, which equates to 5.8lbs of fat to burn = 20300calories (1lb of fat = 3500calories, right?)

So on a deficit of 100 calories a day, I should take 203 days, right?

(Errors obviously in the fact that the % bodyfat is a measure of current weight so it's reverse cumulative IYSWIM.)

Interesting take on it, but I reckon it's a good point. Bears out the whole slow weight loss is sustainable weight loss concept. I await what the physiologists have to say.

Yeah, with just a 100calorie deficit, I'm not missing out on anything. I have cheat meals at least once a week, just ensuring I have an average daily calorie deficit.

Whats a cheat meal look like? If its 700 cals (and thats a starter for one of my cheat meals!!!) you've blown your 100cal a day drop!

Well, as I understand it, 700 calories for a meal (a starter valued at 700 cals must be huge!) is fine depending on what else I eat that day, right?

Yep.

If I end up with an eating disorder, it's all your fault.

Forget meals....if your daily intake is still showing the deficit you are fine.

For me, a "Cheat" meal blows the st out of that days cal allowance!.....but I am running with a much greater daily deficit so it still isnt enough to be an issue. If I just snuck under by 100 cal a day one bad day would ruin me!

Right. That's my general feeling with it.

That, I think, is the main problem with such a small deficit each day. Most people like to have a treat meal at least once a week which, if you're not eating a lot less during the week, will add up.

I think I'd rather have a 300-500 kcal deficit during the week to allow for the weekend meals.

Skip a couple of meals every week, mini-fasting.

Of course, the other issue is that its not as exact as this anyway - daily fluctuations in everything from how tired you are to how far you walked to the shops will through your daily needs by 100 cals here and there anyway.

IMO 100 cal a day is too litlle a shortfall and too easy to break

Yes, it's tricky - I estimate 100 but could be 200 out. I've got used to judging food plus use MFP which helps.
