My ´79 Esprit S2 behaves perfect when accelerating through 1st to 5th gear, no problem at all. But, when shifting down from 5th to 4th and sometimes also to 3rd, I can feel a bit of "judder" which I believe originates from the clutch. It happens at high revs/speed and never occours when driving "normal". The clutch does not slip, and there is no problem shifting gear. Am I to slow releasing the clutch?
is this normal when "pushing" the car?

I recently went thru something similiar to this on my 88 Turbo. The "judder" on my car occurred as I was starting out from a dead stop.... it was sometimes also accompanied by a squealing sound. It turned out to be the throw out bearing needing replacement.... I also replaced the clutch assy at the same time since the car was already torn apart. Once it was opened up, it was also discovered the input shaft (and assocated spacer) was worn and needed replacement.

Hope this helps!

The clutch has recently been replaced.
I have no problem when starting from dead stop, it only occours when driving hard (over 5,5k revs) and at high speeds, and almost only on downshifts....
