North Devon recommendations please
Discussion
Want to go to North Devon late October for a few days. We want the following if poss.
Either a boutique hotel or self-catering. Not B & B
Good quality but not mega expensive
Cosy
Not too cut off, small village or Market Town would be nice.
Pubs easy walk
Close to the sea with walks
Steep hills not a problem
Want a nice quiet place but within a shortish drive to somewhere with a bit of life, quaint seaside towns etc etc
Not asking for much ! We know places but not in this area so any advice on areas and/or accommodation appreciated.

Had a very nice stay at the Watersmeet Hotel, Woolacombe, a few years ago. Hotel was quite pricey but good.
It's right on the beach, walking distance from Woolacombe, with nice walks over to Morthoe. Can't remember anything about local pubs though.
I might be wrong, but I think that hotel had a couple of self catering places on site as well.

Just looked this one up. Looks good and they are doing an October offer. Thanks for the tip, it's now on our short list. It's right on the beach, walking distance from Woolacombe, with nice walks over to Morthoe. Can't remember anything about local pubs though.

At the end of Feb / early March, we spent our honeymoon here: http://www.northcotemanor.co.uk/
Admittedly, not particularly near the sea, but it's not too far to drive.
Excellent food and a very friendly team. And they seem to offer some decent deals. Highly recommended!

Stayed here last year, stunning location and views, good high spec apartment too....
Steepish walk down to the beach, located just along the road from the Saunton Sands Hotel.

Great place to visit! I can recommend the Watersmeet, been for meals and they have incredible views from the rooms. Don't know much about the Northcote although it looks great!
Living nearby, I could go on and on about the places to go and things to do/see etc, but if I had to recomment one place to go it would be http://www.squiresfishrestaurant.co.uk/

+1. Standard fish is massive! Well worth waiting for a table
