I always thought there were very strict rules on what you could show a car doing on a TV advert, ie not going fast and certainly not sideways.

I've just seen a GT86 and an old Beetle oversteering in TV ads and I'm wondering if the rules have been relaxed?

GT86 one is CGI which I'm presuming excludes it?

The oversteer only happens in the CGI environment so maybe that's how they've avoided the rules.

If you're really bored you can read the full advertising code here:

It's odd that you can't advertise that Porsches are fast, despite it being true, but you can advertise that a giant can use Nissan Qashqais as roller skates and smash bits of concrete buildings without damaging them, when clearly it's not true.

Also I'm pretty sure Skodas aren't really made of cake.

Advertising must be a weird industry to work in.

Advertisements must not suggest that driving or motorcycling safely is staid or boring
