Ebay Payment via Bank Transfer from Italy - Precautions?

For once I'm actually selling something valuable on Ebay, small piece of football memorabilia that should fetch three or four hundred quid. Five days still to run.

Prospective bidder from Italy asks: "I am very interested in the auction but I don't use paypal. May I pay by bank transfer as I alway do with foreign sellers?"

He looks genuine dealer in such items and has feedback over a 1,000, all positive.

But any precautions I should take - wait 48 hours after receipt of funds, etc??

Bank transfer is far better than PayPal.

Wait 48 hours by all means...but once it shows in your account he can't get it back. If he has 1000 feedback then I wouldn't be too worried.
