Career Advice! Really need the help!!

Hi there, I have always put many of threads on here trying to break into the trade I always thought I wanted to be in! This was to get into the motorsport industry as a mechanic/engineer. I got there and have been doing it for nearly a year, but I have came to found its more of a hobby and most people in it don't have the same amount of obsession as I do! Also had some very bad experiences whilst being there which I found to be of disrespect etc but this isn't matters to go into! All I would say is for some one to have what I would call a paddy for me to attend my own grandparents funeral I thought wasn't respectful at all. But like I said, here for a different reason.

I am nearly of 20 years of age now and still on apprentice wage etc... But I do not know what career to go for and it has been bugging me for years. I have spent 3 years trying to get into the Motorsport industry which shows when I have my head set on something, I will go for it till I get there. I ain't someone to let things get in my way. I know some of you may be saying to yourselves why would I quit on the motorsport passion. I have found that playing with cars etc and racing side of things is much preferred to be a hobby to keep my interest and passion in it and to stay happy.

Things about myself, I do like to be in control (Just a weird thing about me, always wanted to be a businessman - But doesn't all of us). Like to keep people protected, like being around dogs, machinery, driving and using physically and mental strengths to jobs. But then I think of all of these and don't know what to go for. I would like good job prospects and good financial strength through life.

I went to join up to the Royal Marines for the reasons above. BUT, I wasn't allowed in due to a previous serious head injury. So that dream was shattered into pieces very quickly.

I have thought about going into the Security sector doing Dog Handling or Close Protection. But then think of tractor/360 driving.

Sort of getting myself into a massive down and running around in circles. So some help would be massive help. Thanks

If you like machinery, and using physical and mental strengths, why don't you try getting into the arborcultural industry, or to put it another way, into tree surgery? Loads of physical work, loads of mental thinking and a good laugh too. Working with chainsaws, chippers and other machinery is a bonus as well, especially if you're good with engines.

Good call; and they make shed loads of cash too (he says looking at the quote I got yesterday to tidy a few trees up in the back...).

Whilst you're currently unsure which way to go, I would firstly advise to continue with an education as this may allow for an even greater range of possibilities. Failing that, follow you instincts and give a few roles a try to confirm or not whether your interest has been satisfied. You can do this by volunteering/work experience/evening or at weekends whilst you finish your apprenticeship. Good luck!
