A VERY long day, but very productive, thanks Carl!

So the plan was very straightforward; "We'll be done by 1pm".

Ha! Not a chance said the Tiv.

"All" Carl had to do was install my ebay purchased Becker Navigation head unit.

Hmm.

I arrived at 9am and setup camp in the conservatory with wireless.

First bad news. One of the ludicrously ugly and oversized rear speakers doesnt work. Balls. Carl had some lovely MB speakers but of course they were too small for the holes so he had to fabricate a round bezel and cover it in black material.. which it is fair to say added to the day!

All in all, we got there in the end - I was starting to think B&B might be in order!

The good news is we are all done, a number of rattles and squeaks removed whilst dashboard apart, lost the heavy old CD changer out of the boot and loads of old crappy wiring, lost the heavy amp from behind the seats, and the rear speakers whilst x10 better are about 1/3rd of the weight, not to mention looking x10 less naff and more integrated.

I think we have shaved over 10kg off the weight of the car!

As mentioned elsewhere the bad news is Carl is planning to move to sunnier climbs in the not too distant future, so if you have a Tiv with the original alarm (it will die), or need anything electrical or ICE related doing, book in sooner rather than later or it will be likely a holiday to France!!!

The bloke is a legend. Replaced the entire alarm system and reed switches and other door/window related gubbins on the Cerb - and he wasn't going to stop until it was all done!

yes, did a great job for me too. As has been said, he just keeps going till the job is done and he also fixes things as he finds them along the way, which with TVR's can be often - Mis-wiring and spare washers and razor blades behind the dashboard for example.
