Well thats wierd, just told both my car and house insurers they were too expensive and neither of them even tried to make an offer/discount!

Anyone else noticed this recently? (was admiral and hsbc now with AA and Sheilas Wheels (for house insurance :S))

Caught me by surprise.

Whilst they have large shares of the market their incentive to retain us is low; there will be a tipping point, but they're clearly not there yet. Or you had an under performing and unmotivated call-handler.

You should ring them once armed with quotes, particularly if they are from themselves and are cheaper!!

For example, my Admiral multi-car renewal with 3 cars was £2150 app so with an hours surfing and obtaining quotes from various websites I managed to reduce that with 1 call to £1475 saving myself £675!!

If I earns half that for every hour I worked I would be a rich man!!

I did this with Admiral a month back. Multi-car policy renewal came in at £1250. Even individual policies from the same company amounted to £1100. Rang them up to ask why the so-called multi-car discount didn't appear to exist and the guy on the phone quite frankly couldn't care less.

Ended up taking out 4 separate policies, same conditions as the multi-car, for £850.

I was armed with quotes! they just werent interested in the slightest...

I guess I fell out of admirals demographic for some reason (or fell in to another)

(insurance for a 1.6 focus and a 2.slow mk3 golf cab - with multi car £800, seperately £500, house insurance £600 to £320)

so with 2 trips to meerkova I saved enough to cover the VED on both cars and about 3-4 tanks of fuel.

And perhaps moor importantly the PostKat is on his way!
