Was looking at 2011 997 gts's & 2008/9 Turbo's at the 65/70k mark & now been offered a 2012 991S pdk at 73k...

Was wondering where your money would go & why?

In that case either a 40-50K turbo and save the dosh or the 991S pdk - especially if you can get it down to high 60's/70K. Either will have less depreciation than a newer Turbo or the GTS.

P.S. We ate at your St Albans restaurant a month and half ago... very good - do you own the chain?

Yes! But I'd rather own Jamie's smile

Interesting dilemma. I think I have a soft-spot for the 997 GTS, but the cheap 991S would make me pause for a moment. I think I'd want to be sure the 991S was of decent spec to sway me away from the GTS. Turbo doesn't lure me yet.

Probably still a touch over budget, but how much is a Gen 2 3.8 997 Turbo with PDK and a few other nice toys?

Good shout.

Driven most modern pork (except 991), owned GT3.2, GTS, and recently driven 997.2 turbo S. Turbo PDK massively improved over gen1 turbo. Looks good. Drives surprisingly easy when sensible head on. Animal when gas pedal and 'Sport' is pressed fully. Potentially cheaper to buy than 991, and will hold more £££. Non-S turbo PDK from £70k. S from £80k. GTS looks ok, but no better performer than a regular 997.2 C2S, and leagues behind the Turbo, and according to many, the 991 too.

Depends what you want. 991s is a true jack of all trades and at £73k a bit of a bargain. It's very much a luxury cruiser if needs be but if you get in on track, it's an absolute beast. I'd say it's probably the easiest car to live with and does everything you could ask for of a car. My one reservation is that it needs to be absolutely spanked senseless to get the best from it but there's no doubt that it sounds great and goes very well.

GTS is a marvellous car - I loved mine. It's a bit more old school 911, which if you like that would make it a more enjoyable car to drive. It is also an absolute delight to drive at any pace and you should be able to pick one up for much closer to £60k. I felt it was a lot better to drive than a standard carrera or carrera s - sharper, more feelsome but try one for yourself and see what you think.

Turbo PDK - I've never driven one so can't comment but I'm guessing it's damn quick!

For price check, just sold my 2011 GTS for £58k with 4k miles.

Gen2 Turbo S would be a great choice.

991 S close to £70k is appealing.

A 4k mile GTS at 58k is great value and would be my choice over a 991S. The price differential is far greater than the difference between the two cars.

A 7.2 TurboS is in a different league.

True. And subjective. Depends on what appeals to the driver/owner and what they're looking for in a 911/car. If it's fun one looks for on 4 wheels, a cheaper used MX5 is the answer wink

Second the GTS choice, have one at the moment and absolutely love it. Great in all ways.

Food much better at your places, and excellent staff thumbup

GTS is a good choice, but the newer car is more compelling at the small difference in price.

a Gen 2 3.8 997 Turbo with PDK and a few other nice toys? Probably the best choice if the budget works.
