Chances of getting a refund on a broken saddle?

I've been riding a Specialized Toupe Expert saddle since last November and it's now broken, one of the side sections has split in two.

I weight 78kg, ride on the road, I never normally break things and I've done maybe 1700 miles on it. I bought it from Evans online but there's a shop 30 minutes' from me so I might as well give it a go, but as I've never had to try to claim for a refund before I don't know the score here and I've read plenty of stories about Evans staff not knowing the score about much either!

Do I have any chance?

Fizik replaced my Gobi for the newer/ better model after 2 years. Saddle had worn on the nose! Superb service!

Worth a try atleast! They may not replace anything faulty after 6 months though.

You could always try the manufacturer if not.

They might offer to return it to the manufacturer however it'll leave you saddless unless you have a spare?

Give Evans H/O a call first with your order number - they know the score better than the shop monkeys.

Square it with H/O and then nominate which store you want to collect your new saddle from (if they see things your way).

I would say that it shouldn't have broken in that short a time. Try taking it back, or failing that Specialized direct: I've never heard of anyone actually breaking one before!

I had a had a Toupe break on me. I took it back to the shop. It went back to Spesh and I picked the replacement up on Saturday.

I am 90kg and it was only a small bump that made it snap on one side.

Thanks for the replies boys. I've spoken to HQ and it's definitely worth taking to the shop. I've got two other bikes to nick saddles from so I'm okay there!

Specialized usually are very good in dealing with such matters. Speak to them directly if no joy from Evans.

I snapped a Toupe also, just bought a new one but with hindsight I maybe shoulda taken it back. Snapped in the middle of the left section. Heard it go...not a cheap perch either but they suit my arse so I bought another.

Did you phone Evans and ask ' my 10 month old saddle has broken, will you change it please?' Probably more reliable than asking random people on the Internet!

Yes, but it's good to know in advance whether I've got a chance as I have zero faith in Evans having read many threads about how crap they are. As I said I've never had to return anything I've ever bought so I'm new to all this
