How much does a pair of brakes cost for a 97 5Litre (cost of discs/calipers/pads please)?

How much does an alternator cost?

cheers all, essentially I suppose I am also asking if I can get the part elsewhere other than a TVR dealer.

Perhaps time for Ian from Keighley's brake conversion?

a couple of front discs from TVR were 140 pounds plus vat do not put on anything else but the TVR supplied discs, no matter what they say here
the blanks are ford but the heat treat and clyndrical grinding are done at the factory , so be safe they really are not that expensive.

I stood in the machine shop at blackpool waiting to get my new discs they were being machined . I took the advice of the service manager, so you can disagree all you want, but for the price and peace of mind fit proper parts on your car especially when its a beast of a car like the 500 griff

Ah so the guy at TVR said so, must be right then

Not being funny Siwes, just trying to give the guy another option, the way the factory perform with spare parts it could be a long wait.

I'm sure many people me included have bought good quality parts from alternative suppliers with no problems and I don't see why discs should be any different.

You pays your money you takes yor choice as the saying goes

YEP me red dot drilled pattern vented discs pads and braded hoses for front £80.00 cash.

Absolute B*&$**%S! The things i read on these forums .
I have dismantled umpteen sets of brakes on Griffs and Chimaera's. The quality of the OE discs (Ford) are ok, no better than good pattern parts and often worse.
The OE brake pads fitted as standard are rubbish. I've lost count of the number of times i have seen cracked pad material or pad material coming off the backing plate.A recipe for disaster!
And please learn how to spell!

Many thanks to all of you who responded. I have now sourced a means of getting my brakes done and alternator reconditioned.

As usual PH has provided me with the perfect and almost immediate technical answers I needed.

cheers
