Just got myself a accumate battery charger with the cigar lighter bit ,the problem is the cigar lighter does`nt seem to be working,i have put an amp meter on it and its reading between 8 and 10 volts,so the power is getting there,is the reading about right or is there not enough power there.

When we first got our Accumate, running it through the cigar lighter was hit and miss as sometimes it would work and sometimes it wouldn`t. The cure was a new cigar unit due to corrosion - no problems since. About £20 if I recall + fitting while in for a service.

That`s it exactly if you have a Chimaera - as long as the lighter is "live" without the ignition having to be on

I have one fixed in the boot of mine that's been wired in (not via the cigar lighter) so all I need to do is open the boot and plug into the wall socket of my garage to charge if needed.

I had an Airflow charger fitted when I bought my 4.0ltr. Eventually, the battery turned out to be shot and the charger was just giving enough charge to start up then when trying to start up again, nothing. Never use it now, no problems with the new battery although my mate uses a solar charger on his BMW with no complaints.
