Went over bad pothole, bent steel wheel

That'll bend back, although it's not as easy as you'd think, but once it's straight (curved) it'll be fine

Get them to check that sidewall as well, looks cut, hard to see how deep from the pic.

Go back to where it happened and take a picture of the offending pothole and then phone your local council to inform them of a) the pothole and b) the damage to your wheel. They should advise you to get the wheel replaced/repaired and send them the bill.

Take it to the tyre place, a man with large shoulders will smack st out of it with a hammer for a few minutes and then attach half a pound of lead to the rim to balance it. Good as new; at least it was on my car.

Council will tell you they got no prior knowledge of pot hole so can't claim most likely. That's not too bad unlikely to leak and couple of well placed blows with a 4lb lump hammer will sort it. Get tracking checked tho

I'd say they need to be replaced - I got a set of 19" alloys for sale in PH classifieds.

Had this happen twice in two different council catchment areas and both times it was a no quibble repair. Best to take photos mind.

If it's going for MOT and you're worried it'll fail on that, stick some wheel trims on it. The tester won't be able to see the defect and they aren't allowed to remove any parts to inspect either.
